Horsemanship from a nervous system perspective, classical dressage and healing for horses and humans
Kira Julius

About me
Hi, I'm Kira and with over a decade of experience in working with horses professionally, I’m here to support more harmonious, embodied relationships where both horse and human can feel grounded, attuned, and fully themselves.
For nearly eight years I immersed myself in the kind of horsemanship that begins with listening—training with Will Rogers, learning how to start young horses with softness, and support those carrying stress, dysregulation, or difficult histories. Along the way, the classical dressage teachings of Rupert Isaacson have shaped the way I understand balance, rhythm, and expression in the horse’s body.
My background also includes the Horseboy Method and Takhin Equine Integration, approaches that blend horsemanship with therapeutic principles to support people with neurodiversity, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. These experiences continually remind me how horses respond not just to what we do, but to who we are, and how profoundly they can touch both the nervous system and the heart.
Testimonials
"Kira not only has a rare feel for the horse in any context - the young horse, building the dressage horse, troubleshooting behaviours, creating emotional as well as physical well being- she can also communicate this with unusual clarity, compassion and humour- making her human as well as equine clients able to advance with ease.
She also knows the therapeutic side of the horse/human connection better than most.
I never hesitate to send my own clients and horses to Kira - who is also a forever student, constantly adding to her practice, which makes her able to think outside the box, not simply relying on her sound classical foundation.
There aren't many out there like her. If you engage her services, you and your horse will be in the best of hands."

Rupert Isaacson
"Kira is a very experienced horsewoman with a great depth of horsemanship knowledge as well as practical skills. Kira has very good feeling for horses & always tries to do her best for the Horse.”
Will Rogers
"The ponies really enjoyed it and benefited greatly from the work. I learnt a lot about how subtle aids can be, how to read the horses' body language better, coordinate my own body more effectively, the type of horses I have and how to work them more effectively for the stage they are at.
It was such an interesting 2 days, giving a great foundation to work with that we can build on going forwards. Both ponies and humans really enjoyed it. Thank you Kira, you're a wealth of knowledge and superb at educating others. Really looking forward to the next one."

Horsemanship

I teach horsemanship through the lens of the nervous system - helping horses and humans find safety, clarity, and connection so learning becomes natural rather than pressured. My work is rooted in observation, subtle communication, and understanding how both species regulate, respond, and relate.
Alongside this, I’m slowly deepening my path in energy and healing work. It weaves quietly through everything I do: in the way I listen, the way I hold space, and the way I help horse-human partnerships soften into trust.
This work grows from a simple belief: horses and humans meet most clearly when both feel safe in their bodies. Nervous-system–based horsemanship offers a way of relating that is gentle, attuned, and grounded - where communication becomes quieter, learning becomes easier, and partnership becomes something shared.
Classical dressage
I also teach classical in-hand work which offers a refined, mindful way to help horses feel balanced, supple, and confident in their bodies. It slows everything down to a pace where nuance matters - each step, each breath, each shift of weight becoming a quiet conversation. When approached with softness, it becomes less about technique and more about guiding the horse toward ease and self-carriage.
This work weaves naturally into nervous-system–based horsemanship. Both are rooted in presence, clarity, and mutual trust. The classical principles provide structure and physical harmony; the nervous system lens adds emotional safety and attunement. Together, they create a way of working where the horse feels supported not only biomechanically but also internally - free to learn, to express, and to move without tension.
The result is a partnership that grows from both safety and clarity, where body and mind are met with the same respect, and training becomes an art of connection rather than correction.
